Master of Computer Application (MCA Lateral Entry) Program (Two years)

The main objective of the program is to meet the growing demand of qualified professionals in the field of Computer Software and Information Technology. The program emphasizes the application of software technology to solve scientific as well as commercial problems.

The programs thrust is on giving the learners a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application oriented courses including latest trends in computer software development. The program so developed is most dynamic and provides foundation for research in the core and emerging areas of the discipline.

Program Components
The program has been divided into two semesters per year. The first year courses are aimed at foundation development in computers using various technologies, the second year is more focused on core courses providing a conceptual frame work and the final year is devoted to familiarize with emerging technology and the project work leading to foundation for research. The program consists of 31 courses in all. There are total of 108 credits which requires 30 hrs of study for each credit. All the courses are distributed into under mentioned six semesters.

Note:- Completion of the programme requires successful completion of both assignments and the term end examination of each course in the programme.
70% attendance is compulsory in Practical Lab Sessions. However, this condition is not applicable for the time given for assignment implementation.

Eligibility for Lateral Entry Medium of Instruction Age
BCA/BSc.(IT/CS/CAM) from Recognized University.
PGDCA/PGDIT from Recognized University.
A level from DOEACC
B.E./B.Tech in any stream from Recognized University.
M.Sc.(Computer Sc.)/ M.Sc.(Software)/ M.Sc.(IT)/ MIT from Recognized University.

Completion of DMCA-108
The students who don’t have Mathematics at 10+2 level and opted for DMCA-108 are advised to clear them along with the first year of MCA courses. However, all students have to successfully complete the DMCA-108 (wherever applicable) before re-registering for MCA 5th semester. No assignments need to be submitted for DMCA-108. Also, the University offers no counseling sessions for DMCA-108 course. Students need to appear only for the Term End Examination for DMCA-108. After completion of DMCA-108, they would not get any certificate, however the marks will be reflected in the MCA grade card under the non-credit course column. This course (DMCA-108) does not add to the credits of MCA programme and the marks won’t be counted in the grand total. Students need to secure at least 50% marks in the Term end examination for DMCA-108 to be declared as successful.
